The previous generation X-Race was one of the best race skis available anywhere and was without a doubt the best value. So how did we make it better? We improved downhill performance and durability by adding micro ABS sidewalls and tweaking the rocker, length and sidecut for better edge hold. We did that without adding any weight. Then we added our 3D Tapering Rib design. A narrow but relatively thick rib at mid-ski gradually tapers in thickness while widening in width as it progresses towards the shovel and tail. This design maximizes mid-ski stiffness for edge hold and durability, while allowing us to fine tune the flex at the tip and tail. The extra strength also allows us to make the ski thinner in other areas. Bottom line – the tapering rib improves performance while actually lowering weight. After all this, we topped the improvements off by lowering the price.![]()
The Hagan race team is an integral part of our product testing and development. Subjecting our test products to their tough use shows us how to reduce every last unnecessary gram while not losing focus on durability, safety and performance.
Over the last several years we pushed the weight of our race ski to its lowest practical limit. We dont sacrifice reliability, durability and downhill performance to participate in the low weight at all costs madness. Still, please note: The Ultra 65 is the only Hagan ski NOT covered by warranty. While we don’t go to extremes, all race skis sacrifice some durability to achieve lower weights. They DO break. Not often, but they do. If you are interested in breakage insurance or low cost ski replacement, contact me.
The race team and our development team are confident of this Hagan has raised the high performance race ski bar again.
