This version of titanium U-Springs are called “lightweight” not because they are lighter than the standard titanium U Springs found on the HAGAN Ultra and ZR bindings, but because the retention value is lighter. The standard titanium U Springs release value is approximately 8 or 9, while the “lightweight” version is approximately 4 or 5. Note the side notches. (No claim of DIN value is made.)![]()
So the “lightweight” name applies more to the skiers who may want to use these U springs — lightweight skiers!
The springs come complete with two types of retention screws. Simply take out the retention screw on the Ultra or ZR binding, carefully pry out the standard U-Springs, and replace with these new ones.
